Friday night, Andrew Heaney (0 – 3, 5.33 ERA) gets the call for the Miami Marlins as they face Taylor Hill (0 – 0, 4.15 ERA) and the Washington Nationals.  Heaney makes 5th start and 7th appearance as Hill makes his 1st start and 3rd appearance.

Andrew Heaney will get the start in this one after getting recalled from the Minors earlier in the month.  Heaney has made 2 relief appearances since getting recalled but he did make 4 starts before getting sent back down.  Heaney was roughed up in all 4 of those starts and took the loss in 3 of those outings.   At Double-A and Triple-A earlier this season, Heaney was a combined 9 – 6 with a 3.28 ERA in 23 starts and a relief appearance.

Heaney just faced the Nationals in a relief appearance a few days ago.  He pitched 3 innings in that appearance and allowed a hit while striking out 2.   

Taylor Hill will make his first start in the Majors in this game.  He had 2 relief appearances back in June before getting sent back down to the Minors. In his 1st relief appearance, Hill allowed 2 runs on 5 hits through just 3.1 innings of work.  He settled down in his second appearance and surrendered a hit in an inning of work.  In his time at Triple-A Syracuse this season, he was 11 - 7 with a 2.81 ERA in 24 starts and a relief appearance.

Hill has never faced the Marlins but if he can overcome any nerves that could come in making his 1st career start, he could have an opportunity to get a win.
