Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi will be making his 18th start of the year for the Miami Marlins when they face eight-game winner Lance Lynn and the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.

Last Saturday, right-hander Nathan Eovaldi pitched seven innings against the Oakland Athletics and ended up coming away with a no decision in a game the Marlins won 7-6. He gave up five earned runs in that start and walked three hitters while striking out three. Eovaldi has only given up eight home runs in 106.2 innings of work this season and he has struck out 79 batters.

Cardinals outfielder Jon Jay has two hits in his five at-bats against Eovaldi with one strikeout. None of the Cardinals have been able to hit a home run off of the right-hander yet.

Lance Lynn had one of his worst starts of the season last Saturday when he was defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road. He pitched just two innings in that game and allowed seven runs (six earned) on nine hits while walking two batters and striking out two. Despite that loss, Lynn has been very good for the Cardinals this year, going 8-6 through 17 starts with a 3.38 ERA.

Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is the only player on the Marlins who has hit a home run off of Lynn, but he is just 1-for-7 overall against him with five strikeouts. First baseman Garrett Jones is 7-for-21 against the right-hander with a double and five walks.
