Henderson Alvarez will be looking to bounce back from one of his shortest outings of the season when the Miami Marlins go up against Tim Hudson and the San Francisco Giants.

Henderson Alvarez was only able to go four innings in his start against the San Diego Padres this past Sunday and ended up picking up his third loss of the season. He gave up five runs and walked three in that game while only striking out two Padres. He still has a 3.33 ERA on the season, but he needs to get more consistent if he wants to be considered his team's ace.

No one on the Giants has gone up against Alvarez more than three times, but Gregor Blanco has shown that he can hit the young right-hander by going 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI. Hunter Pence is 0-for-3 against him with two strikeouts.

Tim Hudson ended up with a no decision after pitching six strong innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers last Sunday. He allowed just two earned runs on eight hits while striking out two and walking one in the outing. The 38-year-old right-hander is having one of the best seasons of his career with his 2.09 ERA and his 0.812 WHIP.

Hudson has held Giancarlo Stanton to just three hits in 15 matchups, but Garrett Jones is 6-for-14 against him with two doubles and two RBI.
