Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez will be going for his fifth win of the season when he goes up against Tyson Ross and the San Diego Padres on Friday.

Jose Fernandez had yet another strong start this past Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he ended up with a no decision in the game. He went seven innings in that outing and gave up just two earned runs on five hits while striking out 10 and walking four. He still has a sublime 1.74 ERA on the year and has struck out an amazing 65 batters in 46.2 innings.

Padres' utility man Alexi Amarista has faced Fernandez six times in his career and has zero hits off of him with two strikeouts. Everth Cabrera is 2-for-3 against the young fireballer and is the only San Diego player with multiple hits off of him.

Tyson Ross had one of his better starts of the season on Sunday versus the Arizona Diamondbacks, but he finished with a no decision in the game. He went seven strong innings in that outing and gave up just one earned run on seven hits while striking out five and walking one. He has a solid 3.30 ERA on the season and has 37 strikeouts through 43.2 innings.

Garrett Jones has faced Ross three times without a hit in his career, while Jeff Mathis is 1-for-1 against him with a grand slam.
