Henderson Alvarez hasn't lost since April 8 and will be looking to continue that trend when he and the Miami Marlins go up against Robbie Erlin and the San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon.

Henderson Alvarez picked up his second shutout of the season last week when he beat the New York Mets at home. He scattered six hits in that outing while striking out seven and walking no one for the first time this season. His ERA went down to 2.62 and he's walked just 11 batters through 44.2 innings.

Outfielder Seth Smith is the only player on San Diego who has faced Alvarez in his career and he has one single and an RBI in three at-bats against him.

Left-hander Robbie Erlin ended up with a no decision against the Kansas City Royals in his last start, but he pitched one of his better games of the season in that outing. He pitched a season-high seven innings in the game and gave up just one earned run on three hits while striking out five and walking four. His ERA is slowly moving back down and is now at 4.95.

The only Marlin that Erlin has faced to this point is Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who is 0-for-1 against him with one walk. The Marlins can expect to see a lot of Erlin's fastball in their game as he has thrown it over 60% of the time this year.
