Tuesday night, the Miami Marlins and Andrew Heaney will square off against the Philadelphia Phillies and David Buchanan.  Heaney makes just his 2nd Major League start as Buchanan makes his 7th.

Andrew Heaney took the loss in his Major League debut after allowing just a run (on a solo homer) and 4 hits in 6 innings of work.  He walked a batter while striking out 3.  Surrendering just a run the first time you take the mound in the Majors is pretty good.  But when your offense gets shutout, that 1 run seems like 10.  Prior to getting called up, Heaney split the season between the Marlins’ Double-A and Triple-A affiliates and posted a 7 - 2 record with an ERA of 2.47 in 12 starts and a relief appearance.

Even without experience against the Phillies, Heaney has a good chance if he duplicates what he did in his first outing.  That experience along with a good scouting report should help him.

David Buchanan picked up his 2nd straight win his last time out and that took his record to 3 – 3 with an ERA of 4.95.  Buchanan was solid in the win, going 7.2 innings and allowing just a run on 4 hits while walking a batter and striking out 4.  After a rough three game stretch, Buchanan might be returning to the form that he displayed in the Minors that led to his promotion to the Big Leagues.

Without a prior start against the Marlins to look back on, Buchanan will need to study the scouting report hard and rely on his recent success to get him past Miami.
