Right-hander Henderson Alvarez will look to carry the momentum from his last start into his next one when the Miami Marlins take on A.J. Burnett and the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night.

Last Friday, Henderson Alvarez pitched 6.1 scoreless innings against the New York Mets and ended up picking up his fourth win of the season. He gave up seven hits in that outing and struck out five while walking no one. Alvarez has been very good for the Marlins so far this year, going 4-3 with a 2.39 ERA and he has only given up four home runs in 94.1 innings.

Phillies second baseman Chase Utley has four hits in eight at-bats against Alvarez in his career with a double, two walks and no strikeouts. Ryan Howard is the only player on the Phillies who has hit a home run off of the right-hander, but that is his only hit against him in six at-bats.

A.J. Burnett pitched a complete game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday to pick up his fifth victory of the season. In those nine innings of work, he allowed just one run on seven hits while walking one and striking out three. He has been pitching well recently and now has a 5-6 record with a 3.89 ERA.

Marlins catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia has only one hit against Burnett in their 14 matchups over the years.
