Saturday night, Brad Hand (3-6-1, 4.45 ERA) takes the mound for the Miami Marlins as they face Kyle Kendrick (8 -12, 4.83 ERA) and the Philadelphia Phillies.  It will be the 14th start and 30th appearance for Hand and the 30th start for Kendrick.

Kyle Kendrick took the loss in his last start, ending his 3 game win streak.  Kendrick went 7 innings but allowed 5 runs on 9 hits (including a home run) as he walked 2 and struck out 8.  The start was disappointing considering that Kendrick had been pitching well in his last few starts.  He is 4 -3 in his last 10 outings.  Last season, Kendrick posted a record of 10 – 13 with a 4.70 ERA in 30 starts.

In 2013, Kendrick was a perfect 2 – 0 with a 2.25 ERA in 2 starts against the Marlins.  But this season, he is just 0 -1 in 3 starts against Miami.
