Monday night, the Miami Marlins will give the ball to Jarred Cosart (13 - 9, 3.70 ERA) as they square off against the New York Mets and Jacob deGrom (8 – 6, 2.62 ERA).   Cosart will make his 28th start as deGrom makes his 21st.

Jarred Cosart took the hard luck loss in his last outing. Cosart threw 6 innings of 2 run, 4 hit ball while walking 2 and striking out 7.  But he didn’t get any run support and that led to the loss.  It was only his 2nd defeat since coming over from the Houston Astros this season.  In his 7 starts for Miami, Cosart is 4 – 2.  He is 5 -3 in his last 10 starts.  In 2013, Cosart started 10 games for the Astros en route to a 1 -1 record and a 1.95 ERA.

Cosart has no experience against the Mets but if he shows them what he has shown recent opponents, he could come away with a victory.

Jacob deGrom was brilliant in his last outing as he added another victory to his stats.  deGrom hurled 8 shutout innings and allowed just 3 hits while striking out 9 without issuing a single free pass.  deGrom has been a beast on the hill in recent weeks and is an outstanding 7 -1 in his last 10 starts.  Before getting the call to New York, deGrom was 4 – 0 with a 2.58 ERA in 7 starts at Triple-A.

degrom has made 3 starts against the Marlins this season and is 2 – 0 in those encounters.
