On Tuesday night, right-handed starter Nathan Eovaldi (6-8) will attempt to snap his current two-game losing skid when he and the Miami Marlins face Matt Shoemaker (12-4) and the Los Angeles Angels.

Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi had a rough start against the Texas Rangers at home last week and ended up taking the loss. In five innings of work that day, he gave up five runs (four earned) on nine base hits while striking out four batters and walking one. Eovaldi now has a 4.06 ERA on the season and he has given up 9.3 hits per nine innings.

Angels first baseman Albert Pujols is 2-for-4 against Eovaldi in his career with a walk. David Freese has no hits in six at-bats against the right-hander with no walks and no strikeouts.

Matt Shoemaker picked up his third win in a row last Thursday when he defeated the Boston Red Sox on the road. He pitched 7.2 scoreless innings in that game and gave up just one hit while walking one and striking out nine. Shoemaker currently has a 3.56 ERA and he has struck out 102 batters in 103.2 innings this season.

The Marlins will be getting their first chance to face Shoemaker on Tuesday night. So far this season, he has held right-handed hitters to a .211 batting average and a .616 OPS through 194 at-bats.
