Right-hander Henderson Alvarez (9-5) will be going for his fourth win in a row when he and the Miami Marlins take on Franklin Morales (5-6) and the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.

Henderson Alvarez had a very strong start against the Arizona Diamondbacks last weekend and was able to pick up his ninth win of the year for his efforts. He gave up just one run in seven innings of work that day while walking one batter and striking out six. Alvarez has a fantastic 2.43 ERA on the season and he has only given up eight home runs in 144.2 innings.

Rockies veteran Justin Morneau has one hit in two at-bats against Alvarez with an RBI. None of the Rockies' players have faced Alvarez more than two times in their careers.

Left-hander Franklin Morales last made a start for the Rockies back on August 10, when he ended up with a no decision against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings that day while walking two batters and striking out two. He currently has a 5.04 ERA on the year and he has given up 128 hits in 114.1 innings.

Marlins catcher Jeff Baker has two hits in seven plate appearances against Morales in his career with a double and an RBI. Reed Johnson is just 1-for-7 against him with a double.
