On Friday night, Nathan Eovaldi (5-6) will try to win his first game since late June when he and the Miami Marlins face right-hander Mike Leake (9-9) and the Cincinnati Reds.

Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi gave up just one run in seven innings of work against the Cincinnati Reds last Saturday, but he ended up with a no decision in a game the Marlins ended up winning 2-1. He allowed just two hits in that outing and walked two while striking out six. He now has a 4.22 ERA on the year and he has only walked 1.9 batters per nine innings.

Skip Schumaker and Ramon Santiago are the only Reds who have been able to get hits off of Eovaldi in their careers. In 26 combined at-bats, the Reds have gotten just three hits off of him.

Mike Leake was able to pick up his second consecutive win on Sunday when he defeated the Miami Marlins on the road. He pitched six innings in that outing and allowed just one run on three hits while walking four batters and striking out five. Through 23 starts, Leake has a 3.46 ERA and he has only walked 33 batters in 153.2 innings on the mound.

Marlins first baseman Garrett Jones has 13 hits in 42 at-bats versus Leake with three doubles, a home run and six RBI. Veteran Reed Johnson is just 1-for-6 against him with no walks and two strikeouts.
