Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi will attempt to win his first game since June 23 when he and the Miami Marlins face Ervin Santana and the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night.

Last Friday, Nathan Eovaldi had his worst outing of the season when he was beaten by the San Francisco Giants in Miami. In four innings of work, he gave up a season-high eight earned runs on nine hits while striking out five batters and walking one. Eovaldi is now 5-5 on the year with a 4.08 ERA and he has given up 9.5 hits per nine innings.

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman has struggled against Eovaldi in his career, going 3-for-23 against him with two walks and two strikeouts. Outfielder Jason Heyward is 10-for-22 against the right-hander with two doubles, a triple and two RBI.

In his first start of the second half, Ervin Santana pitched six innings against the Philadelphia Phillies and picked up his eighth win of the year. He allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in that start while walking three batters and striking out just one. In 18 starts, Santana is 8-6 for the Braves with a 4.03 ERA and he has only given up nine home runs in 116 innings.

Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich has three hits in his nine at-bats against Santana with a triple and a strikeout, while catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia is just 3-for-14 against him with a home run and three strikeouts.
