Monday evening, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Zach Greinke will take on the Washington Nationals and Jordan Zimmerman.  Both pitchers will be making their 7th trips of the season to the mound.

Zach Greinke has been spectacular this season and comes into this game with a 5 – 0 record and an ERA of 2.04.  Greinke won his last start after a 6 inning effort where he surrendered just 1 run on 7 hits with a walk and 6 strikeouts.  This season, the Dodgers have only lost one game that Greinke has started and that loss wasn’t his fault.  Last season, Greinke was 15 - 4 with an ERA of 2.63 in 28 starts.

In 2013, Greinke was 1 – 0 with a 1.59 ERA in 2 starts against the Nationals.  Washington’s Denard Span has done well against Greinke with a .290 average and 4 RBIs in 31 at-bats.

Jordan Zimmerman took his record to 2 – 1 and lowered his ERA to 3.27 after winning his last start.  In that outing, Zimmerman pitched 6.1 innings of shutout ball and allowed 7 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7.  Zimmerman already has 35 strikeouts and he could beat his career best of 161 in 2013 if he keeps mowing down hitters. In 2013, Zimmerman was 19 – 9 with an ERA of 3.25 in 32 starts.

Last season, Zimmerman was 1 - 1 with an 8.38 ERA in 2 starts against the Dodgers.  In 9.2 innings of work, he gave up 9 runs on 17 hits.  Zimmerman will have to watch out for Hanley Ramirez.  Ramirez is batting .450 with a homer and 6 RBIs against Zimmerman.
