33-year-old starter Dan Haren will make his first start in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform and will take on Tyson Ross and the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. Haren is coming off a pretty poor season by his standards. He had a 4.67 ERA in his lone season with the Washington Nationals, which was largely due to the fact that he gave up 179 hits in 169.2 innings. He's had a lot more success when playing for West coast teams, so he is hoping to have a bounce-back year with the Dodgers.

The most interesting matchup to look out for in this game is Haren against Padres' third baseman Chase Headley, who in 33 plate appearances against Haren has nine hits, but has also struck out 10 times.

Tyson Ross was in and out of the Padres' rotation last year and is hoping stay in it with a great season. He ended up with a 3.17 ERA and a solid 1.152 WHIP in 125 innings in 2013. He gave up just 100 hits in 125 innings, so if he can walk just a few less batters, he could be one of the surprise starters of 2014.

The only hitter in the current Dodgers' lineup to hit a home run off of Ross is Yasiel Puig, who has two hits in four at-bats against the righty. Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford are a combined 7-for-12 against Ross, so it could be a long night for him against the Dodgers' offense.
