On Friday night, veteran right-hander Dan Haren (11-10) will attempt to win his fourth game of August when the Los Angeles Dodgers face Andrew Cashner (2-6) and the San Diego Padres.

Dan Haren had a very good start against the New York Mets last week and ended up winning the game. He went seven innings in that outing and gave up just one runs on three hits while striking out six hitters and walking no one. Haren currently has a 4.44 ERA on the season and he has only walked 32 batters in 150 innings on the mound.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith is 13-for-44 against Dan Haren in his career with four doubles, three home runs and nine RBI. Will Venable is just 2-for-17 against the right-hander with a solo home run and seven strikeouts.

Andrew Cashner had a pretty good outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks last Saturday and ended up with a no decision. He allowed two runs in five innings of work that day while walking two batters and striking out one. Cashner now has a 2.43 ERA and he has only given up three home runs in 81.1 innings this season.

Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez has five hits in 16 at-bats against Cashner with a double and an RBI. None of the Dodgers have been able to hit a home run off of Cashner yet in 87 combined at-bats.
