Veteran right-hander Dan Haren (8-9) will try to snap his five-game losing skid when the Los Angeles Dodgers go up against Matt Shoemaker (9-3) and the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night.

Last Friday, Dan Haren could only make it through 4.1 innings against the Chicago Cubs and ended up losing for the ninth time this season. He gave up a season-high seven runs in that outing and walked two batters while striking out three. In 126.2 innings this year, he has given up 142 hits and 22 home runs while striking out 95.

Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton has six hits in 21 at-bats against Haren in his career with a double, a home run and three RBI. John McDonald is just 2-for-13 against the right-hander with a double and a strikeout.

Matt Shoemaker pitched five decent innings against the Tampa Bay Rays last Friday and came away with his ninth win of the season. He allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits in that start while walking no one and striking out one. He now has a 4.09 ERA on the season and he has struck out 78 batters in 81.1 innings on the mound.

The Dodgers will be going up against Shoemaker for the first time on Wednesday. They can expect to see his 91-92 mph fastball about 50 percent of the time in that game, but his best pitch this year has been his split-fingered fastball, which he throws about 20 percent of the time.
