Big right-hander Dan Haren will be going for his eighth win of the year when the Los Angeles Dodgers go up against eight-game winner James Shields and the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night.

Last Friday, Dan Haren pitched 5.2 innings against the San Diego Padres on the road and ended up with a no decision for his efforts. He allowed three runs on five hits in that game while walking two and striking out five. Haren is 7-4 this year with a 3.62 ERA and he has only walked 16 batters in 92 innings of work.

Royals outfielder Alex Gordon has hit a home run off of Haren, but he has just three hits in 16 at-bats against him overall. Omar Infante is 10-for-18 against Haren in his career with a double and four strikeouts.

Veteran right-hander James Shields ended up with a no decision in his start against the Seattle Mariners last week, but he probably deserved a loss. He gave up five runs in seven innings in that game while walking one and striking out four. Shields has an 8-3 record this season despite giving up 113 hits in 104.2 innings.

Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez has nine hits in 34 at-bats against Shields in his career with a double, a home run and three RBI. First baseman Adrian Gonzalez is 8-for-23 against him with a home run and two RBI.
