Saturday afternoon, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Zack Greinke will square off against the Colorado Rockies and Jhoulys Chacin.  It will be Greinke’s 13th start and Chacin’s 7th. 

Zack Greinke took the loss in his last outing and that lowered his record to 8 - 2 with a 2.50 ERA.  In that loss, Greinke gave up 4 runs and 5 hits (including a home run) in 6 innings as he walked 2 and struck out 7.   In his last two starts, Greinke has given up more runs per start than he had all season long.  But he still should be able to post numbers equal to last season’s when he went 15 - 4 with a 2.63 ERA in 28 starts.

In 2013, Greinke didn’t face the Rockies but he has a lot of experience against the Colorado lineup.  His biggest concern could be Michael Cuddyer, who is batting .250 with a homer and 7 RBIs against the right-hander.

Jhoulys Chacin is still looking for his first win of the season after pitching to a no-decision in his last start.  His record held at 0- 4 with a 5.51 ERA after he gave up 4 runs on 3 hits in 5 innings of work.  He walked 5 while striking out 4. Chacin is having a rough time of it so far he and might not even match last year’s record of 10 – 14 with a 3.47 ERA in 31 starts.

In 2013, Chacin was 2 - 1 with a 5.11 ERA in 4 starts against the Dodgers.  If Chacin wants to be successful in this start, he might want to stay away from Matt Kemp.  Kemp is batting .226 against the right-hander but he has 2 homers and 8 RBIs.
