Monday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers will give the ball to Dan Haren as they square off against the Cincinnati Reds and Tony Cingrani.  Haren will make his 13th start as Cingrani makes his 11th.

Dan Haren dropped his 3rd game in 4 starts the last time out to give him a 5 - 4 record with a 3.50 ERA.  In that outing, Haren allowed 4 runs on 6 hits (including 2 homers) in 6 innings of work as he walked 1 and struck out 2.   After a solid start to the season, Haren has fallen off a cliff and he is starting to look like the pitcher that went 10 – 14 with a 4.67 ERA in 30 starts and 1 relief appearance last season for the Washington Nationals.

In 2013, Haren was 1-1 with a 7.20 ERA in 2 starts against the Reds.  Haren will need to watch out for Cincinnati’s Brandon Phillips because Phillips is 6 of 18 with 2 homers and 5 RBIs off of the veteran right-hander.

Tony Cingrani dropped his 4th straight start his last time out to fall to 2 -6 with a 4.09 ERA.  In that outing, Cingrani gave up 3 runs on 6 hits (including 2 home runs) in 5.2 innings of work.  He walked 3 while striking out 7. In 2013, Cingrani had 18 starts and 5 relief appearances en route to a 7 – 4 record and a 2.92 ERA.

Last season, Cingrani pitched to a no-decision in his only start against the Dodgers despite throwing 7 scoreless innings and allowing just a hit and a walk while striking out 11.   Cingrani has only faced 6 Dodgers and the only one to get a hit off him is Yasiel Puig.
