Tyler Skaggs (1-0) hasn't pitched well lately but the Angels offense has helped him out by scoring 5 runs in all three of his starts. The 22-year-old pitcher will try to take some slack off his lineup by regaining his control against Taylor Jordan (0-2) and the Nationals. Skaggs started off the season strong, going 8 innings against the Astros. He gave up just 4 hits without allowing a run. Since then his ERA has climbed to 3.43 after getting hit hard for 4 runs in back-to-back appearances.

Skaggs is in his third year in the big leagues and has never faced Washington in an interleague matchup. Each member of the Nationals will be making their first appearance against the left-hander.

Washington pitcher Taylor Jordan has had a similar start to the year as his Tuesday night counterpart. In the first game of the season Jordan allowed just 1 run while pitching into the 7th inning against Atlanta, but he left in a 1-1 game for a no decision. His second outing was another matchup with the Braves in which Atlanta tapped him for 5 runs, as did St. Louis most recently on April 17th.  A 1.42 ERA quickly ballooned to 5.94 as Jordan has allowed 10 runs in the last 10.1 innings.

Jordan is also in a similar boat as Skaggs as he's never faced his Tuesday opponent and not one Angels player has had a big league at bat against the pitcher.
