Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Angels and Jered Weaver will take on the Toronto Blue Jays and Drew Hutchison.  Both pitchers will be making their 8th starts of the season.

Jered Weaver improved to 3 – 2 and lowered his ERA to 3.48 after a solid outing his last time out.  In that start, Weaver surrendered just a run on 6 hits in 8 innings of work with a walk and 7 strikeouts.  Weaver went the furthest that he has gone this season and racked up the most strikeouts as well.  Last season, Weaver was 11 - 8 with a 3.27 ERA in 24 starts.

In 2013, Weaver won his only start against Toronto with a 7.2 inning, 3 run and 7 hit performance.  And in his career, he has fared well against the Blue Jay lineup.  But Edwin Encarnacion could pose a threat.  Encarnacion is 3 for 5 with a homer and 3 RBIs against Weaver.

Drew Hutchison comes into this one with a 1 – 2 record and an ERA of 4.17.  He didn’t get the decision in his last start despite going 8 innings and allowing 5 runs on 9 hits (including a home run) while walking 1 and striking out 6.  Hutchison missed all of last year as he recovered from Tommy John surgery.

The last time that Hutchison faced the Angels was in 2012 and he lost that start after allowing 4 runs on 8 hits in 5.1 innings.  He has only faced 5 of the Angels’ current hitters and only Albert Pujols and Mike Trout have hits off of the right-hander.  Pujols has a homer and 2 RBIs.
