Monday night, the Los Angeles Angels will give the ball to C.J. Wilson as they face the Toronto Blue Jays and Mark Buehrle.  It will be the 8th starts of the year for both pitchers.

C.J. Wilson left his record at 4 – 2 as his ERA was basically unchanged at 3.21 after failing to get the decision in his last outing.  In that start, Wilson went 8 innings and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits as he walked 3 and struck out 5.   His numbers aren’t bad considering he went 17 - 7 with a 3.39 ERA in 33 starts in 2013. 

Last season, Wilson was 1-0 with a 3.77 ERA in 2 starts against the Toronto Blue Jays.  His career numbers are decent against the Blue Jays but he will have to look out for Maicer Izturis.  Izturis is a .355 hitter with 3 doubles and 3 RBIS against Wilson.

Mark Buehrle continued his hot start to the season with a win in his last outing that took his record to 6 -1 with an ERA of 1.91.  In that start, Buehrle pitched 7 innings of shutout ball and allowed just 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6.  Absent a complete collapse, Buehrle will certainly improve on last year’s numbers when he went 12 - 10 with a 4.15 ERA in 33 starts.

In 2013, Buehrle was 0 – 1 with a high 11.70 ERA in 2 starts against the Angels.  In 10 innings of work, he allowed 13 runs (all earned) on 19 hits.  Los Angeles’s Raul Ibanez is a career .333 hitter against Buehrle with a home run and 5 RBIs to his credit.
