On Thursday night, Cory Rasmus (3-1) will make his third start of the season for the Los Angeles Angels when they take on rookie Nick Martinez (3-10) and the Texas Rangers.

26-year-old Cory Rasmus had a short outing against the Minnesota Twins on the road last Saturday and ended up with a no decision. He pitched 1.2 innings in that start and gave up two earned runs on two base hits while walking three batters and striking out no one. Rasmus has struck out 44 batters in 41.2 innings this season and he now has a 2.82 ERA.

Rangers outfielder Leonys Martin is 2-for-3 against Rasmus in his career with a double and two RBI. None of the Rangers' hitters have faced Rasmus more than three times.

Right-hander Nick Martinez pitched six innings against the Seattle Mariners last Saturday and ended up with a no decision. He gave up two runs on six base hits in that outing while striking out four batters and walking one. On the season, Martinez now has a 5.03 ERA and he has given up 134 hits in his 116.1 innings on the mound.

Angels shortstop Erick Aybar is hitless in his seven at-bats against Martinez with no walks and no strikeouts. Outfielder Kole Calhoun is 3-for-6 against him in his career with a double, a home run and three strikeouts.
