Garrett Richards (12-4), who currently has one of the best ERAs in the American League, will get the start for the Los Angeles Angels when they face off against Nick Martinez (2-8) and the Texas Rangers on Friday night.

Last Saturday, Garrett Richards pitched 6.1 innings against the Boston Red Sox and ended up with a no decision for his efforts. He allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits in that outing while walking two batters and striking out five. He has a fantastic 2.54 ERA this season and he has been able to strike out 157 batters in 159.2 innings.

Third baseman Adrian Beltre is 5-for-22 against Richards in his career and is the only player on the Rangers who has hit a home run off of him. Leonys Martin is 4-for-12 against him with three walks and an RBI.

Rookie Nick Martinez gave up two runs in five innings of work against the Houston Astros on the road on Sunday and picked up his first win since May. He allowed five hits in that start and walked two batters while striking out six. He now has a 5.22 ERA on the year and he has given up 104 hits in 88 innings on the mound.

Martinez had one of his best starts of the year the last time he faced the Angels. Back on June 21, he held them to just two runs in seven innings and struck out three batters while walking just one.
