Left-hander Tyler Skaggs will try to win his fifth game of the year when he and the Los Angeles Angels go up against Phil Irwin and the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon.

Tyler Skaggs gave up 11 hits in in 6.2 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays last week and came away with his fifth loss of the year. He allowed three earned runs in that start and walked no one while striking out two. Skaggs is now 4-5 on the year for the Angels, but he has only given up seven home runs in 91 innings of work.

Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is just 1-for-5 against Skaggs in his career with two strikeouts. Shortstop Elvis Andrus has two hits in his four at-bats against the lefty with a walk. Skaggs has yet to give up a home run to a Rangers hitter.

Right-hander Phil Irwin made his first start of the season for the Rangers on Tuesday and ended up losing to the Houston Astros at home. He made it through just four innings in that outing and gave up three runs on six hits while walking two batters and striking out two. He was only able to throw 48 of his 83 pitches for strikes in that game.

All of the Angels will be seeing Irwin up close for the first time on Sunday afternoon.
