Former Cy Young candidate Jered Weaver will take the mound for the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night and will go up against Roenis Elias and the Seattle Mariners.

Jered Weaver pitched his first complete game of the season last week against the Houston Astros and improved his record to 5-3. He allowed just one run on two hits in that game while striking out five batters and walking one. His 2.85 ERA is the lowest that it has been all season and he has allowed just 47 hits in 66.1 innings of work.

Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano has 13 hits in 33 at-bats against Weaver with a triple and three RBI. First baseman Justin Smoak is 8-for-29 against him with two doubles, two home runs and seven RBI.

Roenis Elias ended up with a no decision against the Houston Astros last week after going 5.1 innings and allowing one run. His pitch count got a bit too high in that game due in large part to the four walks he allowed, but he gave up just two hits in the game and struck out six. He is currently 3-3 on the season with a 3.68 ERA and has struck out 52 batters in 58.2 innings.

First baseman Albert Pujols has only faced Elias three times in his career, but he has shown that he can hit him by getting a single and a home run in those matchups.
