The Los Angeles Angels called up veteran lefty Wade LeBlanc to make his first start of the season and he'll be facing Brandon Maurer of the Seattle Mariners.

Wade LeBlanc was the logical player for the Angels to call up to help their struggling pitching staff. He made nine starts in the minors and had a 5-1 record with a 3.69 ERA. In 53.2 innings of work he walked just 14 batters and he struck out 43.

Veteran catcher John Buck has more at-bats against LeBlanc than anyone else on the Mariners and he is 2-for-7 against him with one strikeout. Willie Bloomquist has one hit in three at-bats against the right-hander with a double.

Brandon Maurer's struggles continued last weekend when he was only able to go 4.1 innings against the Houston Astros and eventually picked up his third straight loss. He allowed a season-high six earned runs in that outing on six hits while walking one and striking out just two batters. He now has a 1-3 record with a 6.99 ERA on the season and he has given up 37 hits in 28.1 innings while only striking out 15 batters.

All-Star outfielder Mike Trout has three hits in seven career at-bats against Maurer with a triple and three strikeouts. Second baseman Howie Kendrick has just one hit in five at-bats against the right-hander with one strikeout.
