On Tuesday, May 13 the Los Angeles Angels will visit the Philadelphia Phillies. The Angels will send Matt Shoemaker to the hill to face the Phillies’ Cliff Lee.

Shoemaker hasn’t pitched in over a month and he’ll be looking to get his first win of the season in his first start against the struggling Phillies. Shoemaker last took the mound on April 12 when he faced the New York Mets. Shoemaker has pitched a total of 6.2 innings giving up three runs and two home runs. In his last outing, Shoemaker pitched two innings giving up a home run and getting the loss on the night putting his record at 0-1 with a 4.05 ERA. Shoemaker will hope to get off on the right foot on Tuesday. He hasn’t faced any batters on the Phillies roster so it could either work for him or against him.

On the other side of the field, the Phillies send Cliff Lee to the mound. Lee had a rough outing when he faced the Toronto Blue Jays on May 7. Lee gave up six runs on seven hits over the 6.1 innings he pitched. He gave up two homeruns and needed 100 pitches to get through the 6.1 innings which is not like Lee. It won’t get much easier when he faces the hot hitting Anaheim Angels on Tuesday.

Lee has pitched well against the Angeles he’s faced coming into the game with a Angel hitters averaging .209 against him. He’s given up no home runs in 134 at bats and he’ll look for the same results on Tuesday.
