26-year-old right-hander Garrett Richards will start for the Los Angeles Angels on Friday and will face off against Drew Pomeranz and the Oakland Athletics.

Garrett Richards didn't end up with a win in his start against the Kansas City Royals last weekend, but he certainly pitched well enough to get one. He went seven innings in that game and allowed three runs on five hits while walking two and striking out seven. Richards has a 4-1 record this season with a 3.00 ERA and has allowed just 50 hits in 66 innings.

Brandon Moss is one player in the Athletics' lineup who Richards dies not like to face. The first baseman has gotten six hits against him in 16 at-bats with three doubles, a home run and three RBI.

Drew Pomeranz had his three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday when he was defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on the road. He went just four innings in that game and allowed two runs on five hits while walking a season-worst four batters and striking out three. In 32.2 innings of work this year, the left-hander is 4-2 with a 1.38 ERA and has allowed just 24 hits.

Chris Iannetta is 1-for-2 against Pomeranz in his career and is the only player on the Angels who has hit a home run off of him. Shortstop John McDonald has two hits in four at-bats with two walks.
