Lefty C.J. Wilson (13-9) will try to win his fourth game in a row when he and the Los Angeles Angels take on Jeff Samardzija (4-5) and the Oakland Athletics on Monday night.

C.J. Wilson had one of his best starts of the season last Wednesday when he defeated the Seattle Mariners at home. He pitched seven scoreless innings in that game and gave up just one run while striking out seven hitters and walking three. He lowered his ERA to 4.42 with that win and he has struck out 149 batters in 169 innings this season.

A's veteran Jonny Gomes is 7-for-22 against Wilson in his career with two doubles, a home run and three RBI. Outfielder Coco Crisp is just 7-for-40 against the left-hander with five walks and nine strikeouts.

Jeff Samardzija only ended up with a no decision last Wednesday despite pitching eight scoreless innings in that outing. The right-hander gave up just four hits in that game and struck out 10 batters without walking anyone. Samardzija has only given up 178 hits in 205.2 innings this year and he currently owns a 2.98 ERA.

One player on the Angels who Samardzija doesn't like facing is first baseman Albert Pujols, who is 7-for-16 against him with a double, three home runs and nine RBI. David Freese is just 2-for-14 against him with two RBI and six strikeouts.
