On Friday, Hector Santiago (3-7), who hasn't lost a start since May 7, will be on the mound for the Los Angeles Angels when they face second-year starter Sonny Gray (12-7) and the Oakland Athletics.

On Sunday against the Texas Rangers, Hector Santiago pitched six pretty good innings and ended up with a no decision. He allowed just one run on four base hits in that outing and walked one batter while striking out five. He now has a 3.46 ERA on the season and has only given up 80 hits in 96.1 innings of work.

Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp has one hit in three at-bats against Santiago in his career and is the only player on the A's who has hit a home run off of him. All-Star Josh Donaldson is just 1-for-8 against him with two walks and three strikeouts.

Sonny Gray lost his fourth game in a row on Saturday when he was beaten by the Atlanta Braves on the road. He pitched 5.1 innings in that game and allowed four runs on eight base hits while striking out five batters and walking one. He still has a solid 2.99 ERA on the year, but he is 0-4 with a 4.94 ERA in the month of August.

Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick has three hits in his seven plate appearances against Gray with no walks and two strikeouts.
