On Sunday afternoon, C.J. Wilson will be going for his ninth win of the year when he and the Los Angeles Angels face Kansas City Royals veteran Jeremy Guthrie, who is on a three-game winning streak.

Former All-Star C.J. Wilson won his eighth game of the season last week when he was able to beat the Minnesota Twins at home. He didn't have the best game, though, as he matched his season-high in runs allowed with six. On the year, Wilson is 8-6 with a 3.70 ERA and he has struck out 97 batters in 104.2 innings.

Royals veteran Omar Infante has five hits in 13 at-bats against Wilson in his career with a double and two RBI. Shortstop Alcides Escobar has just one hit against the left-hander in 11 at-bats.

35-year-old Jeremy Guthrie won his fifth game of the season last Monday after pitching 7.2 strong innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He allowed just two runs in that game and didn't walk a batter while striking out five. Guthrie has been able to lower the amount of hits he gives up this season and he has walked fewer batters than he did in 2013.

Former MVP Josh Hamilton has done well against Guthrie in his career, going 9-for-28 against him with two doubles, four home runs and four RBI. Erick Aybar is just 4-for-28 against the right-hander with three strikeouts.
