If necessary on Monday night, Jered Weaver will make his second start of these playoffs when he and the Los Angeles Angels take on Jeremy Guthrie and the Kansas City Royals.

Last week, Jered Weaver ended up with a no decision in Game 1 of the ALDS after pitching seven strong innings against the Royals. He gave up just two runs on three hits in that outing while walking two batters and striking out six.

Royals veteran Josh Willingham has three hits in 14 at-bats against Weaver in his career with two home runs and five strikeouts. Weaver has held Billy Butler to just six hits in 32 at-bats and he has struck him out six times.

Right-hander Jeremy Guthrie made 32 starts for the Royals this season and ended up going 13-11 with a 4.13 ERA and a 1.303 WHIP. In 202.2 innings on the mound, he was only able to strike out 124 batters, but he also only walked 49 of them. Guthrie finished the season well by going 3-0 in his final three starts with a 0.44 ERA.

Guthrie made one start against the Angels this season and finished with a no decision after giving up four runs (three earned) in 6.2 innings of work. Veteran outfielder Josh Hamilton has 10 hits in 31 at-bats against Guthrie in his career with three doubles and four home runs.
