Big left-hander Tyler Skaggs (5-5) will take the mound for the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night when they face Bud Norris (8-7) and the Baltimore Orioles.

Tyler Skaggs pitched well in his 5.2 innings of work against the Detroit Tigers last Friday, but he had to settle for a no decision in a game the Angels ended up winning 2-1. He allowed just one run on five hits in that outing while walking one batter and striking out five. Skaggs currently owns a 4.49 ERA and his 2.3 walks per nine innings is the best walk rate of his career.

Orioles All-Star Nelson Cruz is hitless against Skaggs in their three matchups and he has been struck out by the left-hander two times. Catcher Nick Hundley is the only other Oriole who has faced Skaggs and is 0-for-2 against him.

Last Saturday, Bud Norris lost for the seventh time this year when he was defeated by the Seattle Mariners on the road. He gave up four runs in that start and walked three batters while striking out six. On the season, Norris struck out just 6.7 batters per nine innings, which is the worst strikeout rate of his career.

Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton is 6-for-15 against Norris in his career and is the only player on the Angels who has hit a home run off of him. Albert Pujols is just 7-for-39 against him with six walks and five strikeouts.
