On Saturday night, Jeremy Guthrie (9-10) will be going for his fifth win in six starts when he and the Kansas City Royals take on Nick Tepesch (4-7) and the Texas Rangers.

On Sunday, Jeremy Guthrie pitched seven pretty good innings against the Minnesota Twins on the road and picked up his ninth win of the season. He allowed four runs on five base hits in that start and walked two batters while striking out seven. Guthrie now has a 4.48 ERA on the year and he has only walked 41 batters in 158.2 innings.

Rangers outfielder Alex Rios has 17 hits in his 58 at-bats versus Guthrie with four doubles, two home runs and six RBI. Shortstop Elvis Andrus is 8-for-19 against him with two doubles and a home run.

Second-year starter Nick Tepesch pitched seven solid innings against the Los Angeles Angels in his last start, but all he could get out of it was a no decision. He allowed just two runs on six base hits in that outing while walking four batters and striking out one. Tepesch has only been able to strike out 4.6 batters per nine innings this year, but he does have a decent 4.15 ERA.

Royals veteran Josh Willingham has hit a home run off of Tepesch in his career, but he is just 1-for-7 overall against him. Outfielder Lorenzo Cain is 2-for-3 against him with two singles.
