James Shields will be looking to bounce back from one of his worst starts this Tuesday when he and the Kansas City Royals take on Jaime Garcia and the St. Louis Cardinals.

James Shields went seven innings against the Toronto Blue Jays last Thursday, but he gave up six earned runs and ended up with a no decision. He allowed eight hits, including a season-high three home runs in that outing and struck out six while walking no one. Shields has a 6-3 record on the year and a 3.36 ERA through 80.1 innings.

Shields is one of Jhonny Peralta's favorite pitchers to face as he is 11-for-29 against him with a double, three home runs and nine RBI. Collectively, the Cardinals have a .411 batting average in 73 at-bats against Shields.

Jaime Garcia made his third start of the year last Thursday against the San Francisco Giants and ended up with a no decision after pitching seven pretty good innings. He allowed three earned runs on five hits in that start while striking out seven and walking no one. Garcia still hasn't walked a batter this season through 19.2 innings and he has struck out 19.

No one on the Royals has been able to hit a home run off of Garcia yet, but outfielder Nori Aoki has four hits against him in 13 at-bats with two doubles.
