On Monday night, Danny Duffy will be hoping to end his two-game losing streak when the Kansas City Royals go up against Shelby Miller and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Danny Duffy took his fifth loss of the season last week when the Houston Astros were able to score six runs (five earned) against him in just four innings of work. He gave up seven hits in that outing, including two home runs, and he walked a season-high five batters while striking out three. His ERA climbed up to 3.57 on the year, but he has only given up a total of 27 hits in 35.1 innings.

Infielder Mark Ellis has only gone up against Duffy three times in his career, but he has shown that he can hit the left-hander by getting two hits against him, including one long ball.

Shelby Miller lost his fourth game of the season last Wednesday when he was beaten by the New York Yankees at home. His gave up a season-high seven earned runs in that game on nine hits and he struck out just one batter while walking two. The 23-year-old is now 6-4 on the season with a 3.94 ERA and he has walked 4.7 batters per nine innings.

The only player on the Royals who has faced Miller is outfielder Nori Aoki, who is 7-for-14 against him with a home run and a walk.
