On Thursday the Kansas City Royals will be visiting the Seattle Mariners. The Royals will be sending Danny Duffy to the mound to face the Mariners’ Hisashi Iwakuma.

Duffy’s last start was against the Detroit Tigers on May 3 in which he pitched four innings and gave up one earned run on two hits. Duffy struck out two and walked four on 75 pitches. Duffy took the loss on the night which put his record at 1-2 on the season and a 2.19 ERA. Duffy will look to get back in the win column when he faces the Mariners on Thursday night.

It might be a tough go against the Mariners as they are hitting .400 against him. Duffy will have to pay particular attention to Robinson Cano who has three hits in six at bats with a homerun and four RBIs.

Iwakuma was able to pick up his first win of the season in his first start against the Houston Astros. Iwakuma pitched 6.2 innings and gave up six hits and four runs. He struck out three and gave up one walk after 81 pitches. He’s coming into this next game with a 5.40 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP.

Iwakuma will be facing a team that he’s had good luck against in the past. Current Royals players are hitting only .143 against Iwakuma and the only person with more than one hit against Iwakuma is Justin Maxwell with two hits in six at bats with two doubles. Iwakuma will look to keep the trend going on Thursday.
