On Sunday night, James Shields will try to bounce back from his Game 1 loss when he and the Kansas City Royals take on Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants in Game 5 of the World Series.

James Shields missed his spots and the Giants took advantage in Game 1 on Tuesday. He could only make it through three innings in that outing and gave up five runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out one. Including that loss, the right-hander is now 1-1 in these playoffs with a 7.11 ERA and he has given up 28 hits in 19 innings of work.

Giants outfielder Gregor Blanco is now 5-for-9 against Shields in his career with a triple and three RBI. Third baseman Pablo Sandoval has two hits in six at-bats with a double against the right-hander, while catcher Buster Posey has just one hit in six at-bats against him with one strikeout.

In Game 1, Madison Bumgarner pitched seven strong innings against the Royals and moved to 3-0 in three World Series starts. He gave up just one run in that game and struck out five batters while walking one. He is now 3-1 this postseason with an excellent 1.40 ERA.

Omar Infante now has six hits in his 19 at-bats against Bumgarner in his career with a double and four strikeouts. Outfielder Nori Aoki is hitless in his 16 at-bats against the left-hander with no walks and 2 strikeouts.
