On Saturday night, Jason Vargas and veteran Ryan Vogelsong will both be making their third starts of the postseason when the Kansas City Royals take on the San Francisco Giants in Game 4 of the World Series.

Jason Vargas made his second start of these playoffs in Game 4 of the ALCS when he was able to pick up the win over the Baltimore Orioles. He gave up just one run in 5.1 innings in that start while striking out six and walking three. He now has a 2.38 ERA in his two postseason starts this season.

Vargas had a no decision in his one start against the Giants this year after giving up two runs in five innings of work. Outfielder Michael Morse is just 3-for-13 against Vargas in his career, but he has hit a home run off of him. Joaquin Arias is 4-for-6 against him with two doubles and two RBI.

Ryan Vogelsong made his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 4 of the NLCS and finished with a no decision despite giving up four runs in just three innings on the mound. In two starts this postseason, the right-hander has given up nine hits in 8.2 innings and he has a 5.19 ERA.

Vogelsong did not get a chance to face the Royals during the regular season this year. Veteran infielder Omar Infante has been able to get nine hits in 13 at-bats against the right-hander in his career with no strikeouts.
