On Saturday night, Yordano Ventura (9-8) will look to extend his undefeated streak to five games when he and the Kansas City Royals take on Phil Hughes (12-8) and the Minnesota Twins.

On Monday against the Oakland Athletics, Yordano Ventura had a pretty outing, but all he could get out of that start was a no decision. He pitched six innings in that game and allowed two runs on just two hits while striking out five batters and walking four. He now has a 3.45 ERA and he has only given up a total of 13 home runs in 133 innings this year.

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe has two hits in his six at-bats against Ventura with a double, a triple and two RBI. Eduardo Nunez is 0-for-4 against him with no walks and a strikeout.

Right-hander Phil Hughes was able to pick up his second win in a row on Sunday when he defeated the Oakland Athletics on the road. He pitched seven innings in that outing and allowed just one run on four hits while walking one and striking out seven. Hughes has given up 169 hits in 150.2 innings this year, but he also has struck out 134 batters.

Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar has five hits in his 11 at-bats against Hughes with a double, a home run and two RBI. Jarrod Dyson is just 1-for-9 against him with a home run and five strikeouts.
