Monday night, the Kansas City Royals will give the ball to Danny Duffy as they square off against the Minnesota Twins and Yohan Pino.  Duffy will make his 11th start and 17th appearance as Pino makes his 3rd start.

Danny Duffy dropped his 2nd straight game the last time out and that lowered his record to 4 – 7 with a 2.69 ERA.  In the outing, Duffy allowed just a run on 4 hits in 6 innings as he walked 4 and struck out 5.  But his offense got shut out and he took the loss. Last season, Duffy only started 5 games and compiled a 2 – 0 record with an ERA of 1.85. 

In 2013, Duffy was 1 – 0 with a 1.74 ERA in 2 starts against the Twins. This season, Duffy has 2 relief appearances against the Twins.  He held the Twins scoreless and hitless in 4.1 innings.

Yohan Pino took his 1st loss in his last start and that gives him a 0 – 1 record and a 6.30 ERA coming into this game.  In the loss, Pino was lit up for 5 runs and 7 hits in just 3 innings of work.  He walked a batter and struck out 2.   Pino has spent most of his baseball career in the minors drifting between Triple-A and Double-A.   Prior to getting called up he was 9 – 1 with a 1.92 ERA in 7 starts and 7 relief appearances in the Minors.

Without any experience against the Royals, Pino will have to rely on his baseball knowledge and the scouting report to get past Kansas City.
