On Saturday night, James Shields will be pitching for the Kansas City Royals and will be taking on Matt Shoemaker and the Los Angeles Angels.

James Shields picked up his third consecutive win last Sunday and his sixth win overall when he beat the Baltimore Orioles at home. He pitched seven solid innings in that game and gave up three runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out three. He now has a 2.63 ERA on the season and has 59 strikeouts and just 13 walks in 67.1 innings of work.

The one Angel who Shields has never liked facing is second baseman Howie Kendrick, who is 12-for-24 against him with two doubles, a triple and two home runs.

In his second start of the season last Sunday, Matt Shoemaker was able to pick up his second win by defeating the Tampa Bay Rays. He made it through six innings in that game and allowed just one earned run on two hits while walking three and striking out six. He has a 3.06 ERA on the year and has struck out 14 through 17.2 innings.

The Royals will be going up against Shoemaker for the first time this Saturday. So far this season, the right-hander has thrown his 92-93 mph fastball about 53 percent of the time and has also mixed in his 83 mph slider and his 77 mph curveball.
