Jason Vargas and Garrett Richards will both be looking to bounce back from losses they took last week when the Kansas City Royals and the Los Angeles Angels meet up on Sunday afternoon.

Jason Vargas had a rough start against the Chicago White Sox in his last outing and ended up taking his second loss of the season. He only pitched 4.2 innings in that game and allowed seven runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out six batters. He allowed three home runs in that game and has now allowed 10 long balls in 64.2 innings.

Angels first baseman Albert Pujols has done well against Vargas in his career by notching six hits in 16 at-bats, including two doubles, a triple and a home run.

Garrett Richards made it through seven innings in his start against the Houston Astros last week, but he ended up picking up his first loss of the year after giving up five earned runs. He allowed 10 hits in that game and walked two while striking out one, which is a season-low for him. He still has a very good 2.90 ERA and has 55 strikeouts through 59 innings.

Billy Butler hasn't been able to figure out Richards in his career, going 0-for-6 against him with three strikeouts. Lorenzo Cain is the only player on the Royals who has hit a home run off of Richards.
