After their wild wild-card win, the Kansas City Royals will put Jeremy Guthrie on the mound when they face Jered Weaver and the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday in Game 1 of the ALDS.

Jeremy Guthrie didn't have his best season this year, but he was able to win his last three games and had multiple big games. On the year, he made 32 starts and finished with a 4.13 ERA and a 1.303 WHIP. He struck out 5.5 batters per nine innings this season and walked just 2.2 batters per nine innings.

Guthrie made one start against the Angels this season and ended up with a no decision after giving up four runs (three earned) in 6.2 innings of work. All-Star Mike Trout has four hits in 13 at-bats against Guthrie in his career with a home run and three RBI.

Jered Weaver had a strong second half for the Angels this season and finished with the most wins in the American League. In 34 starts, the right-hander was 18-9 with a 3.59 ERA and a 1.209 WHIP. In 213.1 innings of work, Weaver gave up 193 hits, struck out 169 batters and walked 65. He went 3-2 in five September starts with a 3.66 ERA.

Weaver did not have a chance to face the Royals this season. Veteran Raul Ibanez may find himself in Kansas City's lineup on Thursday night because he is 15-for-36 against Weaver in his career with three doubles, four home runs and seven RBI.
