Kansas City Royals starter Yordano Ventura will be going for his third straight win when he faces Max Scherzer and the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night.

Last Wednesday, Yordano Ventura won his fourth game of the season when he beat the Cleveland Indians at home. He pitched seven strong innings in that outing and allowed just one earned run on six hits while striking out three and walking no one. On the season, Ventura is 4-5 with a 3.20 ERA and he has only given up six home runs in 70.1 innings.

All of the Tigers will be going up against Ventura for the first time on Tuesday night. Their right-handed hitters will not be looking forward to the matchups, as he is holding them to a .228 batting average this season.

In his last start, Max Scherzer was able to win his eighth game of the year by pitching a three-hit shutout against the Chicago White Sox on the road. He struck out eight batters in that game and allowed three walks. Through 94.1 innings this season, the right-hander has 106 strikeouts and has only walked 28.

Alex Gordon has had more success against Scherzer than any of the other Royals, going 12-for-31 against him with three doubles and two home runs. Alcides Escobar also has hit two home runs off of Scherzer, but he is batting just .219 in 32 matchups with him.
