On Thursday afternoon, Danny Duffy will look to make it three wins in four starts when the Kansas City Royals take on Anibal Sanchez and the Detroit Tigers.

Left-hander Danny Duffy pitched seven scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox on the road on Saturday to pick up his fourth win of the year. He gave up just five hits in that game and struck out a season-high nine batters while walking just one. Duffy has a 4-5 record this year with an excellent 2.83 ERA.

Tigers outfielder Austin Jackson has hit a home run off of Duffy in his career, but he is just 2-for-14 overall against him with four strikeouts. Torii Hunter is hitless in five at-bats against Duffy with two strikeouts.

Last weekend, veteran Anibal Sanchez pitched 6.1 innings against the Minnesota Twins and picked up his third win of the season. He gave up three earned runs on four hits in that start with two walks and six strikeouts. Sanchez has had a good season so far in 2014, going 3-2 with a 2.44 ERA and he has only given up one home run in 62.2 innings.

Royals outfielder Alex Gordon has five hits in 15 at-bats against Sanchez with a double an an RBI. Surprisingly, none of the Royals have been able to hit a home run off of him yet in a combined 127 at-bats.
