On Friday night, Yordano Ventura will try to end his current two-game losing streak when he and the Kansas City Royals face right-hander Josh Tomlin and the Cleveland Indians.

In his last start, 23-year-old Yordano Ventura pitched just four innings against the Los Angeles Angels and ended up suffering his seventh loss of the year. He allowed two runs on seven hits in that start while striking out three and walking no one. Ventura has been pretty good for the Royals so far this season, giving up just seven home runs in 88.1 innings while striking out 76 batters.

Indians infielder Carlos Santana has two hits in his five at-bats against Ventura with a walk and an RBI. Jason Kipnis is just 1-for-6 against him with two strikeouts.

Last Saturday against the Seattle Mariners on the road, Josh Tomlin was able to pitch his first career no-hitter. He gave up just one hit in that game and walked no one while striking out a season-high 11 batters. Tomlin now has an even 5-5 record on the season and has only walked nine batters in 64.1 innings of work.

Royals outfielder Alex Gordon has eight hits in his 23 at-bats against Tomlin with three doubles, a triple and an RBI. Eric Hosmer is 2-for-10 against Tomlin, but he is the only player on the Royals who has hit a home run off of him.
