Saturday afternoon, the Kansas City Royals will take the field behind Danny Duffy as they take on the Chicago White Sox and Hector Noesi.  Duffy will be making his 8th start and 14th appearance as Noesi makes his 9th start and 15th appearance. 

Danny Duffy pitched to a no-decision in his last outing and that held his record at 3 - 5 with a 3.26 ERA. In that start, Duffy went 5.2 innings and surrendered 3 runs on 5 hits while walking 3 and striking out 4.  In 2013, Duffy was 2 – 0 with a 1.85 ERA in just 5 starts. 

Last season, Duffy didn’t get to face the White Sox but he has seen a few of their hitters in the past.  Five of the White Sox have seen Duffy before but only 1 batter actually has a hit off of the young lefty.  Alexei Ramirez is 1 for 3 against Duffy.

Hector Noesi picked up his 2nd straight win the last time out and that took his record to 2 – 4 with a 5.40 ERA.  In his last outing, Noesi allowed 4 runs on 7 hits (including 3 home runs) in 5.2 innings of work.  He walked a batter while striking out 5. Noesi is now pitching for his 3rd team this season after starting the year with the Seattle Mariners before being traded to the Texas Rangers.  The Rangers designated him for assignment and the White Sox picked him up off waivers on April 25th.  Last season with the Mariners, Noesi went 0 – 1 with a 6.59 ERA in a start and 11 relief appearances.

 In 2013, Noesi didn’t face the Royals but he has faced many of their hitters before.  Of the 9 Royals that have opposed him, only 2 have hits against him. Mike Moustakas and Jimmy Paredes are each 1 for 1 against Noesi.
